Tubing Running Services

Tubing Spiders / Flush Mounted Spiders (FMS)

Offshore Energy Services, Inc. (OES) Tubing Division stocks a variety of Spiders and Flush Mounted Spiders (FMS) for running chrome and carbon steel tubulars. It has a complete inventory of 500 ton and 750 ton FMS with control line openings as well as carrying 175 Ton Type “E” Air Slips and other Spiders for tubular strings of less tonnage.

The 500 Ton FMS has a range of slip assemblies and guides to handle 3 1/2” to 8” pipe. Each die set has a grip diameter range of 1” thus being able to run tapered strings without having to change out the die segments.

The 750 Ton FMS has a range of slip assemblies and guides to handle 5-1/2"” – 7-5/8” pipe.   Each die set also has a grip diameter of 1” thus being able to run tapered strings without having to change out the die segments.

A hydraulic power down force feature for setting slip assemblies allows the OES FMS to take the torque reaction of the tong even when string weight alone is insufficient to resist rotating. Also, the power down feature has the added benefit of eliminating the need for a safety collar on the first few joints.  Die sets are available with Grit Coated and/or Straight Tooth.

The 500 Ton and 750 Ton FMS are configured as a split bushing type tool. This permits removal of the spider from the rotary (one half at a time) with the elevator supporting the tubing string. Hydraulic connections are located at the top of the spider allowing for quick connect and disconnect as well as maintenance while in the rotary.

The 500 Ton and 750 Ton FMS features a 6” Opening for Umbilical & Control Lines. The OES Control Line Positioning Arm mounts to the FMS for easy installation and handling of multiple control lines and the umbilical line.
